Driving Process Management with BI: Demonstrates best practices for defining metrics and selecting tools for improved business performance management. Scorecarding corporate performance management via CRM, ERP, executive dashboards, and the like. Identifying pain points in the workflow process and responding with BI-based solutions.

Expediting Information Delivery, Retrieval, Reporting and Analysis: Demonstrates best practices for moving from ad hoc query/OLAP to scorecards, dashboards, enhanced visualization, and predictive modeling. Enabling users to mine and access data on their own while maintaining standards, quality and consistency.

Innovation and Promise in Business Intelligence: Demontrates successful "pioneering" of leading/bleeding-edge Business Intelligence technology and the ability to overcome early adoption obstacles and to resolve problems.

Optimizing the BI Opportunity with a Well-Planned and Defined Governance Strategy: Demonstrates best practices for establishing a successful data governance strategy.

Business Intelligence Perspectives (BIP), in conjunction with Computerworld, is seeking IT user-organization case study submissions for its "Best Practices in Business Intelligence" Awards Program.

Eligible nominees are exclusively IT end-user organizations. Nominations of IT end-user organizations are accepted from IT users themselves, their public relations representatives, or vendors on behalf of their IT end-user customers. Multiple submissions of case studies describing different deployments per IT end-user/organization will be considered.

Deadline for Receipt of Submissions–Via this Online Process: Monday, July 14th, 2008 (9:00 PM EST). Five finalists will be chosen in each category and honored at Business Intelligence Perspectives, September 8-10, 2008, at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa, Phoenix, Arizona. Award recipients will be recognized on the event website (www.biperspectives.com), in an event press release, and may be featured in a special Computerworld supplement.



Judges will evaluate and rank the finalists in each category according to their substantiated Business Intelligence solution attributes and achievements against a set of criteria such as:
  • Strategic importance to the business.
  • Positive impact on other business/organization units.
  • Substantive customer impact (service, retention, acquisition).
  • Provides a strategic advantage to the business/organization while anticipating and accommodating the deployment of future Business Intelligence initiatives.
  • Financial return and measurable payback (returns on investment, assets, resources) through created/protected revenue opportunities or cost savings.
  • Addresses challenges of data, information and application security, etc.
